I have a 3.0 and a 3.1 in two Century wagons and the 3.0 seems to have more torque, is this correct? This may be unfair because of gear ratios and the 3.0 is a 3 speed and the 3.1 is a 4 speed automatic. The 3.0 has a carb and the 3.1 is injection  , AL.

The 3.0 is a Buick motor. Baby 3.8, if you will. The 3.1 is a chevy motor, enlarged 2.8. Buicks are torque motors and chevys are not.

Your "seat of the pants" is properly adjusted, just so you know.

That makes sense! The 3.0 really pulls at 2500-3800 RPMs, ask the owner of a Honda Accord that was road kill :eek2: , AL.
