Hey guys, sorry such short notice but I have little time. I am going to look at an engine in the morning. It is a 430 out of a 67',claims to have only 100,000 original miles(how many times have I heard that) never been broke into(bored or modified) and complete from air cleaner to oil pan(brackets and everything). He wants 500.00 for it. I want to slap it in my 67' Skylark that currently has a 340 in it. Will it work, what will I have to do and do you think that is a fair price? Thanks fellas.:jd:

My opinion? To much! Maybe if you could hear it run.

I'd say no. Right now in the recycler there is a 455 for $80 and another for $255. They are both about 2 hours away. I am am in the process of acquiring a running 455 and an apart 455 for $200, this deal landed on me through a friend. But if you can wait, keep looking every day in every resource avaliable in your area. You should be able to get a 455 for less that $500. One thing that might be different is Buick hot rodders are quite rare in CA, most people got to have Chebbies. So finding other Buick guys is not easy around here, but parts come cheap. Good luck.

  6. aren't those 430 heads the higher compression types though? As in 10.5:1? Thought those were the sought after compression chamber design...

I bought 2 430's lately. One for $250 with less than 100,000 miles on it. The other car and all for $350. $500 is pretty steep to me. Good luck!!
