Hi, I noticed there are two types of fender trim pieces (Screw on and snap on). The moldings are a different shapes as the screw on type is flatter than the Snap on style. I would presume the hood has they same type of shape based on the type of fender trim you have. I have a few questions. Why the difference?, is one style appropriate then the other based on the model car? Also, are he hood piece different too so the fender shape would match the hood. And, I may be looking for a hood trim that is flat like the screw on fender trim based on the answers to my questions. Thank You!
It's a good question, I would like the answer from somebody that knows, too! The parts book ( and assembly manual) only show 1 hood molding 68-72. It shows only 1 extension piece, with screws. Weird thing is, I know there was more than one extension piece with screws, because I have a couple with rounded corners and 1 with a square corner. My 70 (April or May Fremont) had the snap on moldings when I got it, no holes in the fenders for the other type. I think the fenders were changed, they seem to be later NOS fenders. I'm guessing the snap on ones were a carry over from 69. I know you can't rely on the parts book.
Interesting. I have snap on style and holes in fender and that's why I thought I should have screw on type but didn't know they made a rounded style that screw on.
Early 70 has Snap on , I use the snap on type on all our cars because they match the size of the hood moulding so much better the screw on are wider and flat .
Hugger, Do you kow if they made a hood trim that matches the screw on type profile, e.g. flat and wider?
