Ok all you TC folks that are also buried in snow, need some help. All my leads on a decent place to redo my headliner and possibly peel back my vinyl roof have gone dry. ou: Hoping to get it done this year so looking for any good recommendations people have. Or reeeeally bad places to avoid...for that matter. All info appreciated! Kris Syrdal
Kris, Dick & Ricks in Bloomington did several headliner jobs for me a long time ago. They did a good job although I don't think they are the cheapest shop around. I haven't had any experience with them lately. There is also a shop thats been around forever on Snelling in St. Paul, just north of University Ave. They did some nice work on a friends old British car a couple years ago. I can't think of the name though. The best guy I ever used was Mel Doll, who also lived in Bloomington. He worked out of his garage, but retired to Brainerd some years ago. I think he is still doing upholstery & trim last I heard. I hope someone else jumps in here, I'd also like to know who the good guys are to use. I just talked to a friend who said Mark's Upholstery in South St. Paul has been a good shop to use too. Mark
Thanks for some good leads, Mark. The place on Snelling is American or All American, I think. I know some other folks that are happy with them but I also know the guy who originally did my headliner works there-and he did a shoddy job which I am looking to correct. It's probably best I don't stop in there. But at least I have some other sources to check out. Kris Syrdal
A@T Upholstery in Plymouth. They have been doing cars for me for 20 years. They also do work for Tri-Shield Performance. Phone # is 763-541-1968 and ask for Tom or Al. They do excellent work.
I wouldn't recommend A&T Upholstery in Plymouth. I took my Centurion to them for a vinyl top replacement and they broke one of the chrome moldings. He was going to fix it by caulking it in place with silicone sealer, like he was fixing a bathtup. And they oversprayed adhesive all over the hood. I'd take my car anyplace but there.
