It looks nice. The dent on the front fender seems nicely repaired!

Thats the first time Ive done body work myself. Im very proud of me when I look at that corner of the fender now. :) Took me a couple of hours to repair this. :)

It's very quiet about the progress on the Riviera.......I reckon you don't make it to Antwerp with the Boattail ?
    Only 8 days left..... :Brow:
(I have a bet about this with another board member :bglasses: )

    New Update on the boat.

Ive been to a "do it yourself" paintshop and painted the Riv all by myself, after I worked several month on the preperation.

Just watch the link on the first post in this thread. :)

    Thanks :)

GoldBoattail, you dont need to worry about the dealer emblem anymore. Thank you very much, but due to the paintjob, I decided to close the holes for the dealer emblem, because I wasnt sure to get a new one. But thank you very very much.

Well, when I painted the basecoat, it was absolutely perfect! Im really happy with my work. Just the clear coat... Some orange skin and some noses, but nothing that cant be polished out, so Im very very happy with the job I did. Especially because I did all the work myself. I started with getting ALL old paint off the car, down to the bare metal. Noticed some minor rust holes. Made repair sheet metals by myself, cuted out and welded the metal in, went over it with tin primered it and sanded it. And finally painted it.
Im really proud of the dented corner on the drivers side fender. You cant see anything of the dent now. Seems just perfect. :)

The only real bad thing is that this is my wifes car, and were going to divorce. So I dont know what will happen to the car. :(
I know theres still some work left on the car, but I think with only 1000-1500 more buck it will be just like new.

    Its a great car.

Do you mind if I ask you how much you spent on the paint job? I am planning on stripping it down to bare metal first and I am still getting quotes in the 4-5000 dollar range.

I want to do mine in a similar color too. Either this color...

    Or this color...

Well, I did absolutely all work by myself, so I saved a lot!

I payed about 700 for the paint and another 120 for the paint remover. Maybe another 150 for all things you need, like sandpaper, degreaser, ect.

I payed 140 for the do it yourself paintshop.

I also got quotes of 6000 over here for the job. So Im pretty happy now with my first paintjob. Saved a lot of money and its became really good!

What's that funny worth, compared to the US $ ?
And how much for shipping your car to Germany and back to CA...

    You do the maths,Tom

Right now 1$ = 1.22 Euros. That sounds about right. I got quoted $450 for a gallon of paint, plus primers, reducers, hardners, etc would equal $750 for the materials.

How long did it take you to do it by yourself? My dad kept track of the hours he spent painting a car once and it totaled 250 hours. But he was a firefighter so he had a lot more time off than me.

You better check that again, the US Dollar is much lower.
If you can buy 1 whole Euro for 1 US Dollar, you better tell me everything about that source......

1 US Dollar is 0.81419 Euro
10 US Dollar is 8.14 Euro
100 US Dollar is 81.41 Euro

Don't finish the car, don't put any bumpers and stuff back on, the wife will not want a "project car" . pull the engine for a "rebuild" too. wait till after the divorce to finish it.

Well, it still no war between me and my wife. The car isnt finish yet, and Im going to make her an offer, to buy the car from her today... Just to have my work payed....

Thanks for your opinion. Im thinking almost the same right now.
