I posted earlier once I had a rolling chassis and if you haven't seen it here it is...http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=136085&highlight=61+Invicta+project Soon this body will be on that chassis and be a true roller.then the body work really begins!!ou: Here is an update on the body......boy does it need a lot of body work but its coming along. I am doing a lot of the metal work while it's on the rotisserie. Here are a few before and "during" pictures. Please let me know what you think and any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.:beers2: If you look in the background of one of the pictures you can see my donor car...61 Buick LeSabre 2 door hardtop I picked up for a couple hundred bucks....saved if right off the back of the truck taking to the crusher. Thanks, Rob
look'n good so far... where did you get the floorpans, or did you make them yourself? I've always loved the look of that year.. must be the glass wes
I got the floor pans from http://www.classicfabrication.com/ They were a great start but needed a lot of "persuading" to get them to fit. I think if I had to do it again I would make them from scratch. Rob
Sweet! Have you decided on what kind of insulation/sound deadner you are going to use? I have been tossing around the lizard skin spray on stuff, rather than mess with the hastle of "cut and tape" with all the contours. Erik
Hey Rob - Looking good buddy. Floor pans came out nice. Tooo bad the only one who can appreciate that work is the person you run over:bla: . Next time some 20 Ga. and a bead roller and you can do your own. My next tool purchase will be a bead roller/shear combo. $600 but if you have to fab panels well worth the $$. That is off in the future for me thanks to the folks in the oil companies- they have made me tap into my fun money just so I can get back and forth to work!:af:
Erik, I had never heard of Lizard Skin until now but I went to their web site and I too am thinking about giving it a try. I was going to go the Hush Mat route but now I don't know......:idea2: I am going to do a little more research. Has anyone used this product or something similar? Rob
Tony, Do you have a shear/bead roller in mind that you are looking at? I was thinking about a shear but if I can get a good combo all the better. Thanks, Rob
Rob, It's great to see projects making progress. My Invicta is patiently waiting in line for me to have the appropriate shop / time / money to treat her right. Unlike yours, mine is all Cordovan in colour. Good luck and keep us posted on progress...at least I can live vicariously through you for now.
