With the chassis about done I set the motor in today. I still needs to get eye candy, cast alu Buick valve covers and the 2x4 set up, that come later. Next the bell housing and trans. Body goes to the shop this Sat.
Looks great, can't wait to get mine in. those exhaust manifolds look like new. nice job whatever you did.
Just used high heat cast iron gray paint, either Summit or VHT, cannot remember, it was about a year ago. Thanks for the kind words everyone.
Update to the 66 GS project. Chassis was completed, last summer, body work was started in Nov, and the car is know back home as of this Friday, Just a roller, with all the sheet metal on and under side of body painted, firewall painted, and heater installed. Interior/dash painted, top and body painted. Body put back on frame and final assembly done. Still need some adjustments to the doors and fender, but over all it looks good. I had posted some ongoing pictures on 65GS but will post some here, thanks Bill.
Rick, the 2/4 set up is on the shelf, I need to rebuild the carbs paint the manifold and detail the rest. I have a pair of cast alu rocker covers to go with the 2/4 set up Will add power brakes and detail the top of the motor and things. I will need to get the radiator re-cored. Yes it has come a along way sense I drove it on the trailer at your house. We replaced the panel between the trunk and rear window, not rusted to bad but the under panel was bad. Had a good used one that we dipped and used. We replaced the pass trunk drop for the old damage when the full quarter was put on a long time ago. Other than the damage on the pass quarter by the extension and cleaning up the pop rivets they used to install the partial outer rocker on the pass side, the rest of the body was good for a 50 year old car. No trunk or floor rust. Used the original deck lid, Changed both front fenders for better ones. Repaired the drivers side of the core support with a 66 Skylark that was rust free, and had to repair the drivers wheel house under the battery. Tom, I have had experience at removing and installing starters on 65/6 cars, not a lot of fun. This one was rebuilt by an old long time Buick person, so hope it lasts. Thanks Bill.
