    Does anyone know what specific engine components were included in UPC Y43?

    My 1970 assembly manual states '455 engine specific parts', and a 1971 buildsheet I saw states something like 'engine specific components' (I forgot the exact wording :Dou: )

    So does anyone know what this option includes?

    Thanks!

    The GM Master Parts Book for Canada has a few pages for 1970-76 Buick production options. Y43 appears twice & indicates Riviera Stage 1. No other mention of it.
    This isn't the answer you are looking for but may help eliminate others?

    Marco,

    I checked all of my documentation and I can only find Y43 once and it does not break down what parts were included :Do No:

    It is noted on one sheet as a "change made since Aug 20, 1969"

    My '71 Assembly Manual mentions it 3 times;

    First with the Stage 1 option on the GS, which was UPC WE5, and included the L75 "hi perf modified 455" engine and Y43 "specific related parts".

    Second with the 455 engine group option on the GS, which was UPC WE4, and included the L74 "455 4bbl hi perf V8" engine and Y43 "specific related parts".

    Third with the 455 engine group option on the LeSabre, which was UPC WE6 and included the L74 "455 4bbl hi perf V8" engine and Y43 "specific related parts".

    To add more confusion to the mix, the 455 option on the Centurion and GS option on the Riviera list the L76 "modified 4bbl hi perf" engine with no mention of the Y43 option.

    We know the Stage 1 is the L75, but I'm wondering what the difference is between the L74 and the L76?

    I could find no mention of what Y43 is, but I'd guess after looking at the I section of the '71 Order Form that it has something to do with the radiator or alternater.

    Thanks everyone.

    This 'probably' included things like pulleys and brackets. :Do No:

    Darren -
    I believe the internal difference between L74 and L76 may be the cam.
