Last weekend I attended a car show and found this Timex display case. The case is dated "June 1963" on the bottom. There is a motor that turns the tree and it has one light bulb. It required a lot of cleaning and the removal of one wasp nest, but I looks pretty good.
I might be tempted to make small pieces of road out of thin wood to support them on. Paint the wood black with lines and all. Or get some old slot car track and make circles around the center section and have them displayed that way. You could always add some more lights to the lower sections. Maybe emulate light poles that are fixed in place on the inside of the track?
The track idea sounds great. But get the older type with the dotted lines down the center. It's the old lock and joiner Aurora. And you need to modify the Timex logo.:bglasses:
I was thinking cool, but what do you do with an old Timex case till I looked at your picture. Very cool! I would think twice about modifying the case though. It's from '63 and you know there are collectors that would pay money for it. I would try and retain it's original value for the future if it were me.
