I was going through my assembly manual, and noticed the brown tachometer wire is attached with tape to the forward engine harness before connecting to the negative side of the coil.

My question is, what type of tape was used on the assembly line? was it the same type of electrical tape that was used on the forward engine harness, or was it a black cloth type friction tape?

Maybe someone with an original car has the answer. Unfortunately, my original forward engine harness was butchered many years ago.

    Thanks,

    Ken

    Ken,
It was regular black plastic tape. Also I see your car is a 71, so the body wiring harness in your trunk should have a black plastic wrap.

There should be no friction tape on 71 cars.

Duane, there is some kind of weird tape that looks like it is fabric on my tail light harness. Any ideas. Looks like it has never been touched.
