Under body treatment

While I've got my rear support arms and suspension off, I want to take a quick second and paint some of the areas underneath the car where those parts attach to the frame and body. I'm having the arms powder coated, but I just want to hit those underbody parts with some paint. Problem is, I dunno what to use. I plan to take a wire wheel/cup to those areas to get the rust off. But I dunno what to do after that. They aren't in bad shape, just surface rust and no major problems.

Do I just hit it with some rustoleum flat black, or should I get something more serious? I was looking at some of the underbody paint that eastwood sells, as well as the rust treatments they sell as well.

The underbody of the car is in very nice shape, no major rust issues. I don't plan any serious work under there any time soon, just mostly cleanup. I wanted to hit these areas while they are exposed.

    Thanks

Yes - POR 15 or any of the Eastwood products, I use their rust encapsulator and the orange primer (which I don't see on their site anymore). Wire brush and clean should be all the prep necessary. Brush it on and use the spray to reach areas you can't with the brush. Wear gloves (the paint won't come off your skin) and use the clear bag trick I told you about.

That clear bag thing gives me flash backs to my mom telling me not to put a plastic bag over my head because I'll suffocate. I bought one of those clear plastic face shields for $4 at Harbor Freight. I think I have some of that rust encapsulator from eastwood somewheres.

I have some of the rust encapsulator from eastwood. Is por15 better than that stuff? I don't like the rust converter that eastwood sells, but i've used the encapsulator before. por15 seems like a big process to me.

I think the Eastwood Rust Encapsulator will do what you need it to do. Apply it liberally and you should have a decent barrier. Get things clean as you can within reason...grease and oil are the real enemy to adhesion.

??? its just paint. Open the can and brush it on. What process are you think ing of? And the encapsulator is as good. If you have some use it.
