This is my newest addition to our ever expanding vehicle stable . Runs fantastic but the pumper section needs attention. Drove it out of the mountains with no brakes after it sat for 6 years . had to cut the fuel lines and put in a remote gas can , set of points . It started up before the first revolution ! Just got the master cylinder rebuilt and bled it and the hydrovac . Stops real good now . When we brought it out all we had to keep it held back was gears and the park brake . Actually had to give it gas on the downslopes to get it to come down . This suckers' got gear !! Here are the details ...... 56' Ford F-750 Big Job 12,140 ORIGINAL MILES 332 ci. V-8 (we think) o No: 5 spd. O.D. Trans Single Speed Rear End Presenting..... The Gruntin' Granny :Brow: Steve
Gruntin" Granny Thanks it's working at this end too . I didn't check the right box when I opened the pic. in my pics . Steve
Thanks ,,, I think. Pissin' Pink Panther eh ?! Good one. heh heh No it's not a flathead The valve covers have 2 nuts like an old Chevy 235 - 6 . It's not a 292 . A water pump was bought for it several years ago for a 292 and it wouldn't fit . They got one for a 3** cubic in. I thought it might be a 312 but according to the parts book it's around a 332 ci. . It's not an "FE" , isn't an FE like a 390 ? Intake fits up to the heads ? This engine has an intake / valley pan like a Mopar . But it bolts down with these oval clamps . ah ! Trying to remember where I've seen these washers before,,,, Buick distributor clamps are exactly what they look like . I have a Vin/production # and found a Ford vin decoder site and tried it out . No luck it didn't recognize the vin except for the series . If anyone might be able to help it would be great . I haven't been able to look for any #'s on the block . It'll be coming to the house this eve. (Thurs.) I'll see If I can't get a 5 gallon pail of rubbing compound and get at least the cab done . Steve
Yup, an FE's intake bolts up to the heads and the top of the valve cover. Jason, I think you might be thinking of the 352" FE motor. I don't think the 332" is an FE, but rather a first-gen, non-flathead Y block motor... but then again, I could be horribly wrong! ou:
Glen , I think you're on the right page . There were a couple of engines in the 3xx c.i. that are ne FE's Steve
Get a picture of the engine posted on here and I'll print it and ask a guy at work. He's a BIG Ford fan (go figure!!). Maybe he'll have an idea. Thanks.
Pics of the Mystery Mill........ Hey guys here is the engine from the Fire Truck . 56' F-750 Big Job . Steve
Ajax !!!! Before you rub the paint down , Wet the paint down and put Ajax all over it and sponge , and rinse !:Brow: OOPS , i just told everyone a " secret weapon " that we used on desert paint when I was out west ...ou: Have fun , keep it wet , sponge and Ajax !! Rinse good , then compound ..:bglasses: :beer :TU:
Thanks for the engine pic, Steve. As soon as I get some paper I'll print it and see what Ron has to say.
You got yourself a stroked T-Bird engine. That is a Y-block that Ford offered in HD trucks in 56-57. They went to the 352 in 58.
Pissin' Pink Panther / Gruntin' Granny Thanks guys , Yeah the engine did remind me of a "Birds" 312 . So it's looking like a 332 then , eh ? Thanks for the Ajax tip . I used Wal Marts equivelent( Purple Power) to Castrol Super Clean . But I've gotta get more . I also use it instead of solvent in my parts cleaner . It's Non-Flammable , not as much odor as solvent & it cleans great . Less than $4.00 a gl. compared to Castrol @ around $6.00 . And it whacked the Dookie out of the oxidized paint . Steve
