Well it's warming up here in Iowa again and the fart pipes are out everywhere.Just trying to go to a friends house today to change a fuel filter on her 92 Lumina and going down the street right after I turn is Mitsubishi Eclipse.I don't know what it is about these cars or the Talons as well but when I get the Buick out for a drive they seem to come out of the woodwork.I'm minding my own buisiness, trying to be good but this kid won't leave me alone. He keeps looking over at me and keeps poppin his throttle like he wants some. Finally I've had enough and slam it down into first and give him a nice dose of the side exhaust pipes and some unspent fuel, then proceed to just leave him like he forgot what he was doing!!!We(I)get up to the light and he finally makes it there a few...seconds later and won't even look my way.History Lesson complete....Go do your homework junior !!!And pull up those pants !!! :spank:

Nice job :TU: I remember reading Pop Mech. article about a Roadmaster estate wagon they were testing. (Trailering abilities) I had the 'Vette motor in it, and he blew the doors off one of those shitboxes. I'm curious, how much blue smoke was coming out his exaust, as it seems they ALL burn oil after awhile. I don't understand how they pass emissions. John

Here in Des Moines you don't have to have your vehicle inspected.Which makes for alot of crap on the roads.I don't think that kid's car could have gone faster if he got out and pushed.

Must not just be in your part of Iowa, then, since it seems like all the ricers are out in full fledge here too! Good kill, anyway! I can't wait to get my car running again..it won't take much throttle to beat most of the ricers around here...lol. :TU:

As fun as it is with an old Buick, try frying rice in a real "grampa's car": 98 Lincoln Town Car to be specific. THAT is priceless.

Knowing what I do now I should have taken my Grandpas old car out cruisin' when I was younger. He had a 72 or 73 Electra with the 455.No wonder he loved that car so much.Grandpa had a lead foot.He also had 73 or 74 Scamp with a 318.That little thing could move pretty good also.Come to think of it now, grandpa had some pretty cool old cars when i was growing up.I knew there was some reason I liked him so much.Just didn't realize it when I was a kid.Miss you Gramps !!! :beer

I guess the irony of it all in hindsight it was my grandparents who exposed me to the Buick: Grandma had a 73 Electra, Grampa "Smokey" had a 71 or 72 Le Sabre or Centurion I forget now, But the 79 Electra Limited 2 door they traded for struck me as the coolest car I had ever seen. I inherited the Lincoln from Smokey when he passed away almost 3 years ago to the day, between the two of us we haven't put 30k on it. So here's one for him as well.... :beer

Most are not like this, but

A friend at work had a mildly worked Eclipse AWD. The car went 12.80's as consistant as can be. Turbo and all wheel is a nice combo.

Just make sure you've got your act together before you try one of these in a rusty small block powered 'Lark, or the ricer dude will be writing the "kill story" on another board someplace!

There is a lot of GN's that are mildly worked over that can run low 11's on street tires all day. Just throw some slicks on the GN and leave the rest of it stock and you could probably be running high 12's all day long. They supposedly run 13's right off the showroom floor, and the GN's have some weight to them, unlike the mitsus. Not to mention, they don't slice through the air like most modern day mitsus do either, since gn's have a boxy shaped styling to them.

There are also a lot of "rusty, small block powered larks" running around that would show quite a few 12 second mitsus the door on the way out. :Dou:

Nice kill!! Some of those ricers can run, but they cost to much to build up and the sad thing is most of the bolt on parts, i.e. headers, exhaust, can actually cause those cars to lose power. My daily driver is a 01' monte carlo ls stock and i have obliterated several of those cars (hate to see what the 455 regal does when its finished!).

I know for a fact an 86 GN can run a high 13 off the showroom floor, I have a friend who did it, although he did remove his spare and jack before his run.

I don't think those cars are as heavy as everyone thinks though.
