Is there somewhere on the web to search GM wheel codes, to figure out what year, and what their application was/is? I have two very nice code RH 14" steel wheels, and I need 2 more to make a set, but so far my search is coming up with no results. *****THESE ARE PAINTED STEEL WHEELS******* For poverty caps, Not rally wheels. I bought a project several years ago and in GM boxes in the trunk were these 2 code RH 14" wheels. Need to find another pair. Thanks for any help understanding these wheel codes.

Steve Caruso may have some records for Buick wheels. I have the orig 14" wheels off my '71 GS & one that I know came off a '73-75 Regal I can check. Maybe the Assy manuals too?
Are those RH wheels just plain steel wheels, designed for a hubcap? btw, are you are looking for plain steel wheels for your newly acquired '72 Stage 1 4-speed?
Yes, what I'm using is only temporary. I just would like the 4 to match. These are painted steel wheels for poverty caps.
You have to be careful if you use the wheel chart that Steve posted. I don't know about the big car wheels, but some of the codes for the A-bodies are wrong. Duane
Since you have legit Stage 1 4-speed car, consider finding a set of the correct steel wheels. They will be dirt cheap but shipping will be the kicker. The correct code is HF and it was used for multiple years as a standard 14x6 steel wheel. Example, my '69 GTO has standard 14x6" wheels and they are also HF code, only the date code is different. All '72 Skylarks with any type of hubcap used the HF code so the wheels are NOT rare. I've had a few sets over the years. So put an ad in the parts wanted section and you might be surprised at what you find. According to the assembly manual your '72 would have body color wheels if it is Silver Mist. Here are photos of the original, unused spare wheel and tire from my late-build '72 Buick. The wheels are dated 6/15/72 and 6/30/72 (car was built in July '72). They were very gloss black on this car (this car had full hubcaps). No doubt about how shiny they were originally. We recently blasted and repainted the wheels and you can see the codes here:
the '71 and '72 A-bodies used a WM code for the 15x7 chrome road wheels (I can say for sure that both of our '72 Stage 1s have WM code wheels with date codes that match the cars). I think Duane made this chart which is more correct. Thanks Duane!
Duane (et al.)... At one point, wasn't there a much larger chart or maybe a chart by year that you (or someone posted) on the old BPG forum or maybe in "The Buildsheet"? I believe it was a chart that had rim codes, sizes, and pictures? That ring a bell with anyone?
I'm just trying to use what I have. Even though incorrect, I may spring for a new set of 14x7's. The deeper offset helps fill out the Buicks big wheel houses.
If that's the case, just get ANY 14x6 steel rim that will accept a small hubcap, regardless of code, and before you paint the 4 rims just fill in the code so there is nothing at all on it. This car isn't for concours judging, right? so who cares about the codes. No one is going to be looking at the code except you, and you will only notice it while you are adding air to the tires.
