I have a '69 Wildcat as my daily driver, and one day I went to use my signal to turn, and the green light next to my speedometer just lit up green and didn't blink like it was supposed to. Any ideas what it could be?

First thing I would check is for a burned out bulb.

But then why would both of them do it? The hazards still blink too.

If all the hazards flash, the flasher element for the turn signals is toast. Turn signals and hazard flashers use different elements.

Change your flasher, it is the small round "can" on your fuse block.

Check grounding of your front and rear lights. Bad electrical connection can cause this. I just had it. I ran a separate cable from the bulb directly to bare metal and it improved significantly.

Update, it's fixed. But I didn't do anything. I will still replace the flasher, and check all the connections. Thanks guys.

    Ditto.

The symptom is when you turn on your flasher and the directional indicator in the dash stays lit and does not blink. Simple things first.

I bet you over filled the blinker fluid reservoir. Does it every time:Dou: . Engine heat will make that stuff evaporate quick enough.

Actually I had a similar problem sometime back after I had done some electrical work on the harness. The ground screw had not been as tight in the screwhole, and it had corroded a little, resulting in a poor ground. If you start having lamps and/or headlamps burn out, check the chassis and body grounds, and clean them and put a film of dielectric grease on them to retard further corrosion.

It's my bet that you have a deficient ground.

Update: I got it fixed. It was the relay. It started blinking normally again then just stopped all together. Did some digging and found the relay I bought a while back just in case!

where did you find this relay? my headlights didn't work a week ago and it was recommended to change the dimmer switch. that worked! but now my signals do not work. unlike you, i do not get a green light. i get nothing. the hazard flashers DO work and i did change the flasher unit in the fuse box yesterday, but to no avail.

my dad-in-law and i were fooling with the horn button and the wire connector leading up the steering column the other day, but nothing was unplugged or removed. very strange.

any help is appreciated. 68 skylark convertible.

    thanks, kurt
