I have a 1963 Riviera with a non functioning right front turn signal. The right rear signal works fine. Changing bulbs/ lamps has no effect. I have cleaned the socket and made sure it has a good ground. I have a voltage reading that alternates between 6 volts and 1 volt while the flasher is working at the right front turn signal. Voltage readings at the left front turn signal alternate between 11 volts and 2 volts while the flasher is working. I'm thinking of running a new wire from the right turn signal socket to the turn signal switch on the steering column to eliminate whatever might going on in the original wire harness. I'm done working on it for today but thought maybe someone here has seen a similar problem and might have an idea as to what is going on with my turn signal.
I checked the resistance from the light assembly to the radiator support and it was 0 ohms. I'll check the resistance to the frame and to the negative battery terminal next. I'll let you know what I find. Thanks
Checked the ground from the turn signal to the radiator support to the engine block and negative terminal and everything seems to be good.
Have you connected the socket directly to the Neg on the battery to see if it flashed? Also might want to put full 12v into the + side of that socket while installed to see if it lights.
Well I tried all the suggestions, swapped out the turn signal switch, checked the entire length of the wire harness and all the grounds ect but could not find a problem. Put it all back together and now the turn signal works. It's working so I'm going to leave alone.
