Hi: I am trying to diagnose a turn signal problem on my '66 Riviera. The right signal works fine, the left goes slow and hangs up altogether at times. A guy that restores columns told me the turn signal cable that could be the culprit. I'm trying to avoid removing the column and a lenghty and expensive overhaul if possible. Has anyone come across a manual to properly adjust this cable. I am also looking to replace the block on the column that accepts the cornering lamp wiring would would also require a cable adjustment. Thanks, Paul

There is no 'adjustment' for the cable Paul - the cornering lamps work off the turn signal switch, via a flat ribbon wire electrical cable, that runs down the steering colume to a connector at the lower portion of the colume. The turn signal switch, flat ribbon wire cable, and lower connector are a complete assembly.
You may have a faulty signal switch, but it sounds like corroded, or poor ground connections to the left cornering lamp housing. The lamps need a good chassis ground to work properly - check all the ground connections, or run a seperate ground wire if necessary. :TU:

    Hi Rivman:
Thanks for your reply but I believe you are referring to '67 and later columns.
The '66 is a totally different animal. No ribbon wiring, there is actually a cable from the top of the column to the bottom and the switch is a block with 6 or 9 pins at the bottom of the column. It's a peculiar set-up but I belive similar to the '63-'65.
