I have a 1962 Buick Wildcat, I found a chevy v-8 turbo system that I think might have been on a boat?? it is a roto master turbo set-up. The set-up used a bolt on adapter to the intake, then the exhaust gasses went from the manifolds, then the turbo then after spinning the turbo went out one exhaust tube down the side of the motor. Anyways, since the Buick is running really good, i was wondering if anyone has bolted a turbo to the nailhead lately? I am going to fab a set of upsidedown headers to feed the turbo, then get a carb adapter plate since it accepts holley crap carbs only and I just want a carter AFB on it. I fanyone is interested in pics, I can send them too.. I figure that a supercharger would mean a complete rebuild and a turbo can give me about 7lbs boost... just enough to scare the crap outta me... Got comments????? let me know....

Sounds cool. I'd be interested in seeing pictures just out of curiosity when you get it all together, and hearing how it performs.

A turbo or supercharger would be an interesting addition to a Nail. You could probably get away with 5psi on a stock motor, any more and I'd rebuild with lower compression and forged pistons. I think there was a member running a supercharger on a Nail a while back, I havent seen him around lately. As far as a carb, you'll probably need one specifically for a turbo application. And I'd be super interested in some pics, I've been wondering about a blown Nail for some time now.

Also, a Nail with some mild port work, 9:1 compression, 7psi boost, and a fairly mild cam should be good for 450hp and over 500ft lbs tq. You could probably see over 500hp with some more radical port work and a lumpy cam.

I have a few pics of the turbo set-up at the shop and I mocked it up on my "mock-up" motor. It will clear the valve covers, and all I have to do is refab my headers I make and there ya go. I am going to send the turbo out and have it rebuilt. My mechanic is a turbo nut (I own an exhaust shop) and he said I could gain 150HP and it should run great. The intake will have to be milled to accept the holley carb bolt pattern, and (UGH) a holley 4 bbl or adapter for the stock carter of the 66 Q-jet that I have. We'll see.... will get some photo's on line hopefully soon....
