Just finished the tear down on the motor. Still have a stuck balancer bolt, any ideas (TNT, Dynamite, C-4, nothing works!) I also need to locate the entire front end of an '86/87 Turbo motor. Brackets, mounts, & serpentine system. If anyone has this stuff let me know. I'll also be looking for '73-up cap screw rods. Any thoughts on pistons? I was thinking .030 over 231 turbo pistons (+2), along with my '69 heads (8.something to one) should allow for a modest boost level of about 6-8 PSI. This will allow the same performance as the NA455 Stage 1 I'm currently running. I'm also going to run the BRF TH200r4 (turbo t-type) and attempt to get into the 22 mpg range (3.31 rear gears, OR 2.25 after the OD kicks in!). I don't think this will get done before the power tour, so the BBB 4spd will just have to make do for now! Jim
Rusted/Stuck bolt? PB blaster, my MAP gas torch, and my breaker bar have never failed me... About the 4-speed... Want to part with it after you get your 200R4? My next project is going to be a Buick 350-powered 60's Chevy C10 and I want a 4 speed for it...
an impact wrench wont take it off? l2481f trw pistons are what i am going to use in my 350 8.3 compresion roughly in a 72 block try gbodyparts.com for serpintine parts you can use any 85 newer trans just call ckperformance for one of their valvebodys -better then a brf and cheaper then a brf core you can also get a trans from him or parts for your own build
Heat and cold produces a thermal shock sometimes to "pop" when the metal expands and shrinks. Propane torch will put some heat into that bolt fast.
Tried heat, tried pen. oil, think I'll just drop it off and have the machine shop do it before I break things (already took out my 1/2 inch breaker bar). Anyone have stock Turbo Regal parts they are looking to part with? Still doing the mock up on the 350. Jim
The v6 pistons will set you at around 7.8:1 unless you mill the heads or block. use a bolt throught the harmonic ballancer and chain it to the frame so it wont turn. jack the car up so you can use a breaker bar and piece of pipe on that if needed.
OK, I'm running power steering (Monte SS) and the V6 serpentine system. Using the the A/C delete pulley also. As for needed parts, everything but a lower pulley and the big aluminum bracket. Jim
