If anyone has info on tube chassis I would like to know it such as cost and how much weight it takes off a Regal with a 455 in it.

    Thanks

How much weight it saves depends on how much you want to spend. Even if you do everything yourself it won't be easy or cheap. With someone else doing all the work a bare bones rolling chassis with the body mounted will be over $10,000. A full tube chassis Regal (race car) can be under 2000lbs but I don't know what the total cost would be, I just know it won't be cheap! :eek2:

Your Regal weight would depend on options like:

    1) Full tube mild steel or 4130 chromemoly
    2) Steel or fiberglass front clip, bumpers, doors
    3) Rear end and drive line components

Your all steel body, 455, mild steel full tube frame might weight in the neighborhood of about 3000-3200 lbs. A full tube chromemoly, all fiberglass parts, no glass, could weight as little as 2200 lbs, so you can see how this may vary.

We have not made the light combo in a Regal yet, but expect to do so with a 70 GS in the near future. :Brow:

Just to give you a cost figure, a full tube chassis with tin work, front suspension, rear end, brakes, body & parts mounted w/paint, motor & mid plate, all wired, less motor and trans would run in the neighborhood of $60,000.00, depending on the components used. :eek2:

Hey, some people spend that on a SUV!!!!!!!!
