    Mike,

I don't know that Rick Henderson will be on before he leaves to deliver a car tomorrow, so I'll jump in for him.

He was running electrics on his 70 Skylark and had a lot of problems with them. He ended up buying that pump and drives to and from the track, while running 11.60's (and 12.00's after blowing up the motor and replacing it temporarily). I think he is pretty happy to be rid of the electric pump.

I am currently looking for a new pump. Stock does not cut it on my new motor. What is the TSP pump and is it better than a stage 1?

    Mike,

I am currently running one on my 625 hp Stg2 464 and have yet to run out of fuel. It is a bit pricey but is a really nice product.

    Regards,

we'll i dont really want to spend anymore money on a new pump considering i just redid my hole fuel system when i went to the electric pump, but for some reason the electric pump i got is the loudest fuel pump on the planet and it really drives me crazy . i mean its louder than the car for christ sake, it vibrates sooo much . ive tried everything to quiet i down but ive had no luck.mike

You can get an 8 psi unit by Edelbrock/Carter from Summit or Jegs for $54.95. I don't know how it stacks up against a factory Stage 1 that is supposed to be 7 psi, and I 'm sure it's way below what JW is offering, but it may be worth a try. I've been considering it because when I have gotten my car up to 120 range, I can feel the car start to "surge" and as soon as I slow down it stops. I'm guessing it's the beginnings of fuel starvation.

    Phil,
Do you have a part # for the Edelbrock/Carter unit?

....Use some Rubber Isolators to "suspend" your electric fuel pump. It'll quiet it down quite a bit.

Are you running a Holley Blue ?? their known to be the loudest. I run a Mallory but will prolly be switching to the JW setup for next year. I drove the car Wayyy to much to constantly be worrying about the electric pump failing

I remember hearing a tip once about using one of those shock mount kits that are in the auto parts stores. I think they may be in the HELP packages. It should also reduce some of the vibration too. Maybe dynamat the surface around where it mounts too.

We have tested this pump on a 540 HP BBB (the one in Beth Andrew's wagon) and found that it could just barely keep up with the engine requirements, when fed from a gas can 3 feet from the pump. Doubtful that it wouild be sufficent for that motor, as installed in the car thru the stock fuel lines. Pressure dropped from 6 psi to 0 during the seven second dyno pull.

Next test was with our billet pump, that pump maintained 7 psi on that motor.

They list 80 gph and 8 psi.. but not at the same time.

That 80 gph is free flow.

That pump is marginally better than the STG 1 factory pump. Good, with a saftey factor, to around 490-500 HP, with upgrade fuel lines.

One thing to factor in against the cost of the billet pump... I have now sucessfully run 3 cars with between 500-550 HP, with the billet pump, and the stock fuel lines and pickup. That pump has tremendous suction capablility.

Back in the day, once we got to the mid 12's with a stock pump, the fuel lines had to get upgraded.

jim my car is running 11.90s so far on the fresh motor the first time to the track . i upgraded to a 1/2 fuel line and welded a sump in the gas tank . im guessing my engine is putting out around 600 hrsp do you think your pump will work on a 600 plus horsepower motor ?the pump im using now is an areomotive , its weird sometimes the pump will go completly silent and then it will get loud again .i tried to isolate the pump with rubber gromets but they didnt make much of a difference.mike

    Mike,

Best time so far is an 11:33 and still had over 6.5 lbs of fuel. I am very confident that is will carry me into the tens when I get the combination workout.

Sounds like you aero pump has a problem. Have you called them to discuss it?

    Good luck.

I'm sure that JW's pump is far superior to what's out there for us in the aftermarket. I would love to have one, but for as often as my car ever see 120+ mph, it's probably not worth it for me...not yet.

Not to mention my wife would probably go into orbit if I told her I was spending $400 on a fuel pump. :spank: :Smarty:

    Thanks Jim and Phil,
Hope to need that billet pump someday but right now a Stage 1 should do it. Need carb work more than anything else right now.
