I was hoping you guys out there that have 72 Skylarks with 4-speeds could post a few pics of your small console between the bucket seats, and if you have the consolete also with the center one that is what I would really like to get a pic of? Also wanted to know if there is any difference between the 70 or 71 Skylark center console and consolete? If you could I would appreciate it, thanks.
The consolettes are all the same except for the knee knocker tach in the 69 and earlier and the tri shield emblem for 70 -72 in lieu of the tach. As for the center storage console there was a change from the emblem on top to a button in mid year 70 so a 72 has type II with the button on top.
I am really more interested in seeing the two in a car, because I want to see if it is too much to the eye to have both in the car at the same time.
Andy how's this.............this is from Als '72 car, his user name is IDOXLR8......maybe he's got more pictures for you !
So I know this thread is old but trying to buy a center console from this guy on here and I was looking at the picture above of the console and it does not have a pushbutton on the storage console between the seats, so this as Flyyn put it is not unique to a 72 since there is the emblem and no pushbutton, correct?
The tri shield emblem where the button is disappeared during the 70 model year. It was replaced with a unit that looks the same but had just a silver button. That is why we have a 70 Type I with the emblem and a 70 Type II with the button. After the introduction of the Type II with the button during 70 model year subsequent model years were Type II with the silver button. Some bought the older tri shield Type I units used and put them in post 70 cars even though they were originally only offered for 65-70 models.
Another question on consolettes and consoles...were they all painted black or were they the color of the interior? Thanks Harvey
Consoles (Gr 10.240) were offered with different colors which had their own individual part numbers assigned. ivory dark blue dark brown parchment medium blue dark red medium teal buckskin medium saddle light champaign yellow dark turquoise dark aqua light fawn red black The consolettes ( GR 4.015) came in medium red dark blue red paint to match.
Jim Is there any way to find out what color they would be when installed in a Burnished Saddle interior? Thanks Harvey
dark brown, medium saddle or buckskin above. My bets are on the medium saddle but I would just put the light gun reader on your dash pad and use that color.
Jim you just never sieze to amaze me when I post a thread on my 72 you always have an answer. I just might as well quite posting new threads and just send PM's to you to get all my answers. :Brow: I appreciate your help once again Jim and I hope throughout my project on finishing my 72 that you can guide me through my questions. :beer
Harvey We owned a 70 GS convert, factory 4 speed, Burnished saddle paint, tan top and Burnished saddle interior. As I recall the consolette top was black--not brown. It did not have a console.
That's the same color combination of the Stage 1 that I am getting only mine is a hardtop. Black consolette eh? (That's the Canadian coming out in me!) Thanks again Harvey
