I'm getting ready to install the trunk seal. Should the seam be centered or offset? I have the assembly and fisher body books but it doesn't cover that detail.

    Thanks.

    Jim,
The seal is purposely offset so the seam does not end up in the small gulley directly behind the trunk latch receiver.

:idea2: the seam is off set to the side (most of the one's i've seen anr set to the pass side) ,also if the seam come's apart the water will run past the offset seam more then the centered seam:TU:

    Dave,
I believe there is a pic of this in Gary Steele's 72 low mileage survivor thread. Try the search button.

How much offset from center is the seam supposed to be ?

about a foot to the right from what I've seen.

I just went to look at the trunk seam on my Centurion. It has the paint dabs, and the seam is ON center, and the dabs are off-center about a foot. This is the first time I've seen that from the factory.

On the skylarks the paint lines are aligned with the center of the car and the seam is offset by something like 4-6 inches or so.

Thanks, just another note. Ricks First Gen. Camaros sells a Quanta product that is bottles of assembly line type marking paint with brushes in many colors. May be the way to go for this type thing.

Wow adams picture shows blue and yellow paint and Gary Steeles post shows red and white. I thought I saw blue and pink somewhere as well.
