I'm lost. My 70 lark isn't charging. I took the alt. off and had a reliable parts house check it, worked fine with 13.9 output. So I bought a new voltage regulator. Still nothing. I checked the hot wire going to the back of the alt. and it's hot. I have noticed the Gen. light doesn't come on when I turn the ignition on but I can't remember if it's always been that way or not. If the light is burnt out will it effect the charging system?

I believe if the light is out, it will affect the charging system. The charging system uses this circuit as a "feed",to help supply voltage to the voltage regulator and alternator field circuits.
