I've got a 1969 Skylark Custom Convertible that I just purchased. Could anyone tell me or point me in the right direction as to whether or not the '69 Skylark Custom ever had chrome spears going up the trunk lid? (You know, like the GS350/400 did.) If they were a factory trim option, I'd like to install them when I do my resto. Thanks.

I looked through the '69 Sales book that I have and all of the photos that they show of the Skylark, Skylark Custom and Special do not have the spears on the trunk like the '68 Models.

The '69s had the chrome piece that ran along the bottom lip of the trunk lid (not the Buick Special), the '68s did not have this piece.

Now you can't judge 100% by what is shown in the factory literature because I have a factory photo of a '69 GS with the "derby style" rally wheels that were not available in '69, but were available in '67 & '68. :Do No:

I checked my repro 69 assembly manual and there's no mention of the trim running up the trunk lid, just along the bottom edge.

Thanks James. I was fairly certain that is was a GS only feature.

Just to make sure you are clear, it in not a GS vs. Skylark issue, it's a 68 vs. 69 issue.

Nicholas is correct. There is no trim running up the trunk lid on the 69's only the 68's.
