I am posting this in the "Classic Buicks" forum also, so please excuse the double post.

I have a '62 LeSabre with a Dynaflow transmission that is in desperate need of a rebuild. I would prefer not to swap it out with a newer transmission if possible, but I can't find anyone to rebuild it in my local area (Western Kentucky). Since I have to branch out, I was hoping someone would be able to recommend a good shop in the Louisville or Nashville areas, or might possibly have a bead on a suitable replacement. Also, what would be an average, reasonable price to pay?

    Thanks in advance,
    Maggie

I tried Walt (he was my last hope in BG), and he said no. I think I may have found a racing shop near Central City, though, so it will all work out in the end. Thanks!

    Dynaflow

I found this on the aaca forum. John Marsh, Dynaflow2@_removemefirst_aol.com, Proposed a "Buickman" award to Jim Hughes for the great job he did rebuilding and installing Johns Dynaflow. Jim Hughes went the extra mile, for the love of Buicks and people, not just money. He also has extra Dynaflows and part, just in case!!!

Get Buick Owners references before you let an unfamiliar mechanic touch your car. ONE broken or lost part can park your car for a loooong time, not to mention massive destruction from poor assembly.

If you see Dynaflow transmitions and spare Dynaflow parts on the proprety, you may be at the right place.

This problem of getting experienced mechanics for old automatic transmissions is getting worse. Very few mechanics that worked on Dynaflows are still at work. The same is true for Roto Hydramatics or original Hydramatics.
