Does anyone know who makes a correct transmission modulator steel line for a 71 GS455 with a TH400? The one that I purchased for my particular application from a prominent Buick vendor is nowhere close to the original, and does not fit under the spring clip that attaches to the transmission fill tube as shown in the assembly manual. In fact, it does not fit at all. Any suggestions, or possible photos are appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Ken

Before buying from Inline Tube -- or anyone else -- you might want to call up your prominent Buick vendor and find out who their supplier is. No sense ordering the exact same mis-bent tube all over again.

I've given up on buying pre-bent tubes for my Olds. Most of what I buy the ends don't even end up in the right places at the right angles. And even if they do, it's routed differently than original. I've bought a good flair tool and bender so I can do my own from now on.

I have used inline tube repro modulator line a couple times now, and it's very close, and does fit in the clip on the dipstick tube.

Not trying to be argumentative here .... but there's still no guarantee.

I was at a swap meet earlier this summer attended by that vendor. There were two fuel lines sitting out on their table, both labeled for the same application -- an application with which I am very familiar. Both were bent incorrectly; I guarantee they would not bolt up. Perhaps more disturbing, both were bent differently from each other. At a minimum, that indicates a quality control problem. Your mileage may vary.

I agree with Jim Weise on this one. I just did my whole car (brake, fuel and emission lines) from in-line tube, everything fit correctly with minor tweeking. Ken

Did you get it from OPG? I got that one from them and it is way off. Someone must be sniffing glue over there. I have bought them from Classic tube and inline They both work. Go to the source. All the resot suppliers just buy them from these guys.

I third that . Mine from OPG was stickered "70-72 GTO TH 400 " Not even close . After talking to them on the phone and getting a return number , paying shipping , and restocking fees , it only cost me $40 bucks to get the wrong part . Inlines was really close . Close enough to use , BUT ...... the ends where it meets up with the intake and modulator were a little bit different in appearance than my original one . Factory was a slip fit with the rubber going over both piece , but the one from Inline simply butted up against , and did not go into the mating component . I've been told it is so little vacuum it won't effect performance and will operate fine . I'll let you know when I fire her up and go for a drive .

I did get one that sliped into the fitting like the original. It must have been from Classic tube. I will get that one again I guess.

All; Don't buy one from "The Parts Place". They are junk! Looks like someone cramed it into a 8" square box and called it good and shipped it that way !
Tried to streighten it but no luck. Will have to order it from someone else.
