I've been searching and can find torque values for every bolt INSIDE the transmission, however....

The trans case to engine mounting bolts, 3/8" bolt. Good N Tight or ______ ft/lbs.

The flex plate to crankshaft. 7/16 bolts 70ft lbs, or 1/2" bolts at 80 ft lbs.

The converter to the flex plate. 5/16? bolts and 25-30 ft lbs????

Are these number about right, and how about the trans case to engine block?

    Thanks

I could be wrong but I’m always tightened them to about 55 foot pounds.

The Flex plate to Crankshaft bolts are 7/16-20 and I verified that on the crank.
    ARP says 85 ft/lbs.

Careful here...different grades get different torques, everything else being the same.

Need to know the grade before going for installation torque.

I looked around a bit and found most places are saying about 25-35 foot pounds. Not that you could get a torque wrench in there if the trans is installed in the car. I normally just snug them up, give a 1/2 turn and re tighten them after driving the vehicle.

I never understand the obsession about using a torque wrench for everything.:D Sometimes a little common sense and a few Ugh-Ugh's is all it takes.:)

I have never torqued those bolts, just good and tight, never had one come loose.

In fact if I just drop the trans out of the racecar with the motor being setback. The only thing I can get in there is a 1/4 drive short 12pt 3/8 socket and the top takes a very very very long extension setup. I'm sure I can't be getting them that super tight. They have never came out or loose

Truthfully, it's the same for me, and you sorta know how fasteners behave after tightening/loosening them a few thousand times!

The rules-of-thumb that should be avoided are:

"Tighten it until it strips, then back it off half a turn."

    And for the poor Corvettes,

"Tighten it until it cracks, then..." The same ;)

I figured the case to engine good-n-tite would be fine, but then I found the ARP bolts for flex plate to crankshaft and for $20 I get theirs.

Only remaining question then is the torque converter to the flex plate bolts. Jim @ TSP sold me the converter and it came with bolts and washers but no spec.

I sent him a message, but that was just earlier today.
I expect I will hear back from him in the next days.

About 45 foot pounds but again I would just tighten them by feel. A little blue lock tight if you are worried. Just recheck them after you drive a bit.

If you have a car specific chassis service manual torque values for every fastener on the car is given on charts and or in the drawings

Trans case to block = 35
    Flywheel to crank = 58 manual & auto (455")
converter to flex plate 30-40 35 is designed value
as suggested above - a drop of blue loc-tite is good advice
Many times you can't get a torque wrench on a bolt in an assembled car so you need to use the "developed feel" - not too tight, not stripped.

    Jon,
Did Jim not send you these instructions with the new converter? 55 ft. lbs. with locktite.

Thanks Larry. I have not seen that page before. That is great and pretty much what I figured, other than the washers / spacers. Good info to have now.
