Guys I have just noticed that my turbo350 trans won't bolt to my '74 455. I bought the motor by itself. It originally had a 4 speed behind it. Any ideas or solutions?

If you have a BOP TH350 it should bolt right up. Maybe you should be more specific about the problem. How doesnt it bolt up? do the bolts not align up at all? Does the torque converter hit the flexplate before the tranny seats against the engine? Does the torque converter not bolt to the flexplate?

    Joe,
The trans has a different bolt pattern to the back of the block. Excuse my ignorance but what is BOP. The trans was bolted to a 350chev with 10" 3000 stall converter.

BOP is Buick Olds and Pontiac. They all used the same tranny bolt pattern In every motor they produced. this is of course the days before corporate motors. For whatever reason, Chevy decided to make their own tranny bolt pattern. Its kind of a pain in the ass. wha tyou need to do is find a BOP th350. Which should be available almost anywhere. Your converter will swap right on teh tranny. What type of car are you putting this in? If it is an original straight six car, that is actually a chevy motor, which would be the reason for the incorrect bolt pattern. Joe

    Joe,
The type of car it is going in is a 1928 Dodge Brothers Senior 6. It had a supercharged 350 chev in it until it gave up, so I picked up the 455 wanting more torque. I know of a guy here that deals with Pontiacs (www.pontiworld.com) so I will ask him.

Thanks for your help guys. Problem solved!
I have just purchased a BOP TH350 which requires rebuilding. I will remove the internals from my recond trans and place them into my BOP trans. I assume that the internals are the same.

Every internal part is the same. This is one of the many reasons why I dislike Chevys. Good Luck, Joe
