new to this form, I just got me a1967 225 with a 430 with auto, can any tell me what kind of trans fluid is good to use, the owners manual says to use AQ ATF XXXX 2. Couldn,t find this in the auto store.
Any Dexron available in the parts store will work, use a better name-brand if you want to be on the safe side, but generally it's all the same. Of course, you'll get a million opinions on which is best, but the fact is, it's all pretty much the same, as long as it's Dexron. The old manual you have is giving you the old SAE designation, there have been many upgrades since then and the stuff you buy now will carry a different code, but will be a much improved version of the original '67 stuff they recommended.
