I have an opportunity to purchase an LT1/4L60 combo complete with the computer, pulleys, etc. The LT1 and trans comes from a Camaro, the vehicle it is going in is my Suburban. Here is the question. What differences do I need to deal with to fit the trans to my existing transfer case? I know the tailshaft comes off but what else is different from there?
Externally, nothing. Just unbolt your transfer case adapter from your old trans and bolt it to the new one. Internally, you will need to tear down your 4wd unit and remove the output shaft and transfer it to the Camaro trans. This is assuming that the Camaro trans is pre-95/96 model year.
