I have heard of that routing procedure also. But since my car never sees cool/cold weather, just warm sunny days, I chose to route mine the way I did.
Larry I just checked my 2004 Express Van. The hot fluid enters the top port in the radiator and the cool fluid returns to the trans from the bottom port of the radiator. That is the way my car is also. o No:
