Tranny throttle linkage questions

Ok I'm going to be all over the map trying to explain my quandary, so bear with me please... :boring:
I'm looking for a Quadrajet for my newly acquired '68 350. I already have a '67 Q-jet but am concerned about the tranny throttle linkage hooking up to it. Since my '67 Q-jet has the ball for the "ball and socket" type tranny linkage (stock SP400) hookup, I don't know or remember if that little ball is riveted or bolted on the throttle linkage (my carb is currently out getting prof. rebuilt). I would really rather have a 800 cfm Q-jet for my 400 eventually, (I'm going to bore it out to 430 specs) so I was thinking it would be better to use the 750 cfm Q-jet for the 350.
Are there any issues I need to know about using a big block Q-jet on the 350?
Is there a good way to hook up a tv cable (TH350) to my '67 Q-jet?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Thank you!

I will try to not put my foot in my mouth here, since I recently had to admit I shouldn't answer questions about 67s... :Dou:

Check out the pic of a 67 Q-jet in the "Holley reman. Q-jet" thread further down this page. It does not look like it uses the ball stud, but rather a peg and hair pin arrangement. Note the fuel inlet is sideways, rather than a straight inlet like 68-up Buick Q-jets . You will have to modify the fuel line on the 350 to get to the side inlet (perhaps no big deal.)
Is this 350/350 combo going in your 67 while the BBB is being rebuilt, or is this another car? The TH 350 has a cable, but it is a downshift cable, not a TV cable (totally different critters inside the transmission, similar outside...) On a TH 350 equipped Buick (1969 and up) the downshift cable goes to the gas pedal, not the carb. If this set up is going in the 67 big block car, you are going to have to fabricate something, either to the carb or gas pedal, to make this work.

Please let me know how I did, 67 folks!

Thank you for the reply :TU:

This 350/350 combo is actually going into my '67 Special. the current '66 300 in it now wheezes to much and its time for a rebuild. Figured I would swap it for a 350 since parts are cheaper, easier to get and last but not least... more power! :Brow:

I stand corrected, Yes the tranny link connection is not a ball and socket (I was thinking about the throttle linkage for some reason) but like you said a peg with hairpin arrangement. So let me revamp my questions....
What would be the best way to hook up the cable from my '71 TH350 to the '67 BBB Q-jet on the '68 350 in a '67 Special? confused yet? :pp

I also would need the little bracket for the TH350 cable. It appears that the cable attaches to a bracket that bolts onto the intake manifold. Sorry guys I guess I've specialized in the '66 - '67 arena to much :pp

    Thank you!

    Todd,
The cable does not go to the carb. It goes to the gas pedal. You may be better off looking into modifying or changing your gas pedal. There is adjustment on the downshift (detent) cable at the gas pedal. The cable should reach full travel at WOT.

    Great! Thank you Larry!
Just what I wanted to know. Now I know I'll have to make a bell crank or modify my pedal or something :) Hmmmm I wonder if hooking up my '67 SP300 tranny would be strong enough? hmmmm...

    I appreciate the diagram

    Thanks again!
