    Hello all,

I need to borrow or rent a trailer to tow a 69chevy Wagon. From Arizona to Los Angeles.
Can somebody point me to the right direction?
Uhaul doesnt have one for a Wagon, they say its too big and heavy.
This wagon is going to help finish my buick off. Buy and Sale type of deal.
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks in advance!

    70Buick Looking for help

Try someplace that sells them. Maybe they'd let you rent a used one.

Uhaul always says that. Don't tell them your towing a Buick they automatically think its heavy. Tell them your towing a rolling frame of a buick or a Chevy Nova. Get the idea? Goodluck and safe towing. :TU:

    Question:
But should i be concern about weight limit? i dont want the wheels on that thing to pop, or have an accident because of the trailer.
    Thanks for your suggestions.

I'd just say again, try someplace that sells them. Tell them what you have in mind. You'd like to try one of their trailers to see how it works and maybe buy it if it does. But you'd be willing to pay for a trial. Maybe it seems far fetched but what do you have to lose? From their point of view it has to be a win-win. Especially if you decide to buy it after you're happy.

Take a look at how strong a U Haul trailer is built, compared to ANY non-commercial trailer that's advertised as capable of carrying 4,5,6,000 #.
U Haul traditionally tries to discourage putting large cars on their equipment because of corporate liability policy.
Go ahead and use a U Haul tell them its a Volkswagon (as if it's any of their business) just make sure you've got working surge brakes or a brake control in your tow vehicle. And check the tire pressures before you leave.

...and make sure whatever you're towing with can handle 7-8000 pounds.

A Big wagon is at least 4600-5000+ lbs plus the U-haul trailers have GOT to be at least 2K lbs

We towed my 64 skylark wagon from NC back to Ontario,on a homemade car trailer with 3500 lb axles and surge brakes no problem,i am going to pick up a 72 pontiac wagon on Sat,the weight on the ownership says 3800lbs (lemans) as long as it will fit on the bed and you can chain/strap it down okay you will be fine :TU: Just have to watch tongue weight on your tow vehicle, dont want it too light or heavy..

places that rent equipment bobcats backhoes etc usually rent trailers

you will be fine with the uhaul ryder etc also

and as long as your pulling with a fullsize truck you will be fine also those trailers weigh alot less than a ton more like a 1000 1200 lbs

Hey Marvin. I rented a trailer from Penske, near exactly the same as a U-Haul. I put a 70 A-Body, less engine and trans on it and towed it from Phoenix to Reno with zero problems. Push the car as far as possible to the front of the trailer as you can, check the hitch, ball, lights and tie downs every single time you stop. Believe me. In the space of about 200 miles I went from two tight tie downs to one nearly falling off and the other loose enough to flap around in the wind. Bad news. Those stock fabric strap tie downs and the ratchets get some hard use. Do what I did and put a relatively tight safety chain around the k-frame. :TU: :Dou:

Sorry about the tirade. There shouldn't be any problems using a U-Haul type trailer as long as you just observe some simple safety rules and do this right.

I towed my '70 SKylark from FL to NY with a Penske rental trailer, had to use their truck though. Wasn't a problem since I was moving back here and their 26' truck was what I needed for my stuff. No problems. And the car was loaded with stuff, too.
