TPP (The Parts Place) has started reproducing the Ram Air Cleaner "Air Inlet Assembly" and I'll be honest...… I think they turned out pretty nice!!! I work with so many "poor quality" aftermarket parts with our Restoration side of things that it's nice to see a decent part from time to time. (Especially a Buick Part) This is a 3 Piece assembly that is made out of ABS plastic and feels really durable. And I think they did a great job with the coloring of it. It's not just solid black like most plastic items would be, it actually has some grey swirls mixed in it like the originals would have. I held it up to an air cleaner that I have here and the bolt holes lined up perfectly. I took a side by side shot so you guys can see the texture/coloring. My original has faded a bit so it's not as "Dark" as the new one but overall I think they look pretty close when you're comparing the swirls and overall look. They've even stamped the factory Part Number on the bottom side like the originals. This picture shows an original on the top and TPP on the bottom. The one on top has probably faded a bit and isn't as "Dark" as the reproduction but overall look is pretty close. Pretty decent reproduction in my opinion. I have one in stock as I type this and do plan to stock more now that I've seen one. Retail on these is $279.00 so not cheap but a decent piece at least. On a side note, they are also reproducing the 1971 / 72 Style Fan Shrouds however those are not available just yet. About time. Now I can replace my 72 air cleaner with the correct 71 style without having to buy a $600 piece and tossing the metal part. Good to know, thanks Todd.
