Been years since I torqued heads.Soon I'll be re-installing my 322 heads. I remember when doing them in sequence you would snug each bolt then go back tighten each one to suggested ft. lbs. I saw something the other day where the guy said to reach the desired ft. lbs. in increments. For example, say it's 60 ft. lbs.;he said reach that, you have to torque them to say 20 lbs., then another 15, then 25 to reach the 60lbs. Does this sound right or is it that maybe I misunderstood him.Thanks for any help.

Normally the old style head bolts are tightened in 3 increments. Use a shop manual for the tightening sequence.
Yes, in increments,,,, and from the center of the head outward, or from one end of the head to the other end.... dont want the head to ''hump up'' in the middle....:Brow: and have the head bolts clean and lightly oiled....
