so my trans guy said i've got a universal torque converter on it. Its got 3 bolts . I think i'm missing the other 2 bolts.. there are no slots for them on the converter. All i know is that when i put the petal to the floor it drops into second well before 3100 rpms. Its a 1972 464 with a th-400 3 speed. I just dropped off the car to get the trans rebuilt. Should i have gotten a new converter or do you guys think my shifting problem will go away with this rebuild? o No:
Buick converters only have three bolts. Explain the shifting problem in more detail. Does not sound like a problem the way you explain. Shifting is more a governor or valve body issue or maybe detent or downshift switch. MAybe more simple than needing complete rebuild.
