I'll get more details later with a name and ebay handle but please be careful if the orange 73 Stage 1 GS pops back up on ebay. The seller misrepresented it (didn't know the #'s or where they were located."Good running car" meant with the raditor jug full of gas under the hood:jd: And THEN he split town with my buddies $500 deposit:shock: I'll post the details later.Just giving a real quick heads up before someone else gets taken. Ok 8/19/03 now here are the details on this guy. His name is Joseph Sobers: Location Grand Rapids, MI His ebay handle is: "Frankenguitars" The vehicle was a: 1973 Buick Century Gran Sport Stage 1 that was orange and gray primered. Is this the one? Is this the car you are talking about? I hope he comes up with a refund. This car has been mentioned on the board since early August as for sale again. Maybe I should go:blast: buy it from him.
Same one Dick. The guy knew nothing about engine numbers, or location, even though his ad says differently. When Lee called the guy after sending a $500 deposit the loser told him it had a blown head gasket, even though the ad says it runs good, then there was the WHEN it runs situation, with a plastic radiator jug for a gas tank under the hood. The guy really needs a real good attitude adjustment
The picture Here was the car. I've been trying to assist my friend locate a decent GS to help restore a pretty rare, black Stage 1 1973 SunCoupe and this is the first thing that happens on ebay. Thanks for any help finding this guy.
This must be the same guy. 1973 Century GS It's more recent than the eBay auction. Have you tried it?
I looked up the number from that ad and its from Stoneham, MA. The ebay auction listed a location of Grand Rapids MI.... I know that doesn't mean Diddley Squat... but its food for thought before you go an call the guy. Just an FYI
Hi Dick, Nope not the same guy, this was an original unmodified Stage 1 car.No different gears or aftermarket stall. Just stock, and broken Thanks though. Jeff, Thanks for going to the trouble to track down the correct area for him. Maybe someone on the board will recognize it now. The phone number the guy had been using was his grandmothers who was a reasonable lady, but had no control over the guy. Last word we got he split with my buddies $500 bucks he sent so the guy could put some tires on the car and repair the fuel situation (using a plastic jug under the hood ou: ). Thank Jeff.
No prob with the lookup, Whitepages.com has a reverse lookup tool that only takes a couple of seconds to give you their name and address. I couldn't get all that from the number I had but did get general Location:TU: I love the reverse lookup   Good Luck:TU:
buick gs I found a black '74 (I believe, maybe a '73) buick that's all black, white interior, "Stage 1" air cleaner assembly in the front seat not too far from my house. I haven't checked on it recently, but I should! Anjybody want a 1977 Electra 225? Really good for a Michigan car it's age, white, burgandy landau top and interior, no rust in trunk or chassis. (it had a rustproofer from the factory) PM me or email at ChevelleSSLS6@msn.com -matt
What the............ STAGE III, Not trying to say throw a flame your way but Suncoupes were only made in 1972! :error: If it is a 1973 then the roof was added later by a "customiser"
:error: ? Don't know what to tell you on that one. It's in Buicks factory 73 Service manual. We have currently bought 2 of them so equipped with both power and manual Sun Coupe roofs. I don't think it would be in the Service manual if it was aftermarket. I believe the Sun Coupe name is throwing you.Probably should have been sunroof. Sun Coupe does sound better though.Either way no problem here
suncoupe top Like they say......You learn something new every day. I have never heard or seen the 73's before. Seeing is believing.......I would like to see them myself. Only I am to far away.:ball:
No problem Mike, I didn't believe it when I first heard of it either. They are pretty cool cars, just a "little" heavy, but the Stage 1 motor does help compensate for that though.
The buick I was talking about (I checked it out again) is really dark primer red. Not black as I said before. -matt
Does anyone have a digital camera I could borrow, or a scanner? I'll take some pictures of it and send them to a nice person out there who'll scan them and post 'em for me. I'll tell ya when I go on a picture frenzy. **THERE IS HOPE** (for pictures)
