It was a descent day to get it out and I finally took a few pics as well. Enjoy and let me know what you think. :TU:
Great lookin car:TU: I was 12 years old when the 63's came out and from a Buick family. I still got the AMT model I talked my Mom in to buying the first time I saw it. I thought (still do) that was one of the classiest cars in the world. No way could I talk my Dad in to a Riv, too much money and not as practical as the LeSabre. The local undertaker bought one for his personal car and after seeing me drooling over it took me a ride. That was a big deal for a kid back then, I bragged about that ride to my buddies at school until they were tired of hearing it. Congrats on the car, enjoy it!
Thankyou very much. I never considered owning a Buick or for that matter, a GM car before. But I fell in love the moment I gazed on those lines (sort of like this woman I'm trying to get to go out with me). I wasn't even born in 1963 and to tell you the truth, I didn't know what a 1963 Riviera was till I came across one on Ebay by accident. I think she's a keeper and hopefully, the woman will be too.
All I can say is WOW!!!:beer What is the color called? That car might have 1 of the best looking dashes i've ever seen. Never mind what the exterior looks like, real sexy!!!!:TU:
Thanks. It's all original as I truly believe this car has just under 37,000 miles. It doesn't drive or feel like a used XXX,XXX mile car would. The color is called Diplomat Blue and yes, it's a funky color. It's probably the reason I bought the car.
It was on Ebay last September but the auction expired before I decided to buy it. I contacted the seller and bought it about a week later. It does have a few paint bubbles on the lower parts of the body but it's in overall excellent condition. The things I did have to fix on it; I had to put a new heater core in it and I also had to replace the balljoints and give it an alignment. I also replaced the missing sections of the parking brake cable and fixed the brake light switch. I also repaired the windshield washer pump because it was gummed up. Oh, and I reconnected the ground wire to the speed buzzer because someone cut it. I almost forgot that I also replaced the dryrotted weatherstrip around the door windows as well. Everything works and it works good.
Well worth your time. It truly is gorgous. I never had the cash for a Riv like that. But I grew up in the 65 Skylark so thats where I am. Happy motoring dude.:TU:
That is a beautiful car. IMHO the 63-65 Rivs are some of the most beautiful cars Detroit ever designed. I hope to add a 65 to my own stable some day. I don't think Diplomat Blue is funky. I think it looks soothingly cool like the car.
