took distributor out, put it back now cant start!

    I thoght I kept it the same .. must have moved it.

    brought the balancer to TDC, put the distributor in so the rotor was right on the #1 post on the distribuor.

    spits up through the carb. is that mean late or early spark? havent got it where its hard to crank. Wish I had someone to crank the engine. I could put the timing light on it and dial it right in.

    The rotor is probably 180 degrees off. When you turned the balancer to line up the mark you probably found top dead center on the exhaust stroke. One more time around and you'll be at TDC on the compression stroke, where you want the rotor to point toward the number one plug wire.

    are you saying that the balancer mark can be on the zero and not be at tdc on the intake stroke? are you saying that the crank spins twice for each cycle of the engine?

    Ok I got it all working again. It was in 180 wrong. All fixed now. Had two problems actually that compounded it all. I wasnt gettting spark only half the time. Replaced points now all is well.
