hey there fellas... its been a good 2 weeks since i put my car on the road finally, and i havnt had any problems until today. so i was at my friends house workin on his k5 chevy (engine seized... hahahha  ) and i was on my way home when i stop at a light it starts sputterin and dies. wouldnt start back up... so i waited a bit and tried again.... nothin.... pushed it to the side of the road which was a task and waited again. i finally got it started but the only way i could was to put the pedal to the floor(open up the secondaries). i limped it home, then when i looked to the carb, nothing but smoke n fuel vapors came out the top. still will only start when i open the secondaries, i figure its flooding or something so i screwed in the mixtures screws a lil more and i got it started but idled REALLY rough. any idea what is the problem here? i know you guys are the best so thats why i post here... any help is greatly appreciated. :Do No:

Sounds like it is flooding. The most common problem is a sticky float, or otherwise dirty carburetor. The float is supposed to rise, and force the needle into the seat, and shut off fuel flow into the carb bowl. When that doesn't happen, fuel overflows the bowl, and into the carb throat. If the engine will run long enough, you should be able to see this. Get the carb rebuilt if this is the problem.

Like I said, see if you can keep it running, and take a look into the carb (you might want to do this with the aid of a friend, and a mirror). If it is flooding, you'll see raw gas dripping into the carb throat. If the needle/seat is sticking, sometimes rapping the bowl of the carb with a wrench will free it up. But it will likely happen again if this is the case.
