Testing the waters to get some info on Obtaining a Title for a 1947 car . Car is in NJ and I want to bring it into PA .

Anyone obtain a title when none was available from the seller . Vermont is not the answer as they won't provide a title but will register the car and send tags . Thanks . Forgot to say I won't be registering the car for a number of years . I just need a title to prove I own it . Thanks .

Easiest way to do it is just pay a title guy,..they know the in's and outs and the title will come to you in your name without stepping foot in a DMV,..runs about $350,...I got a title for a 69 Camaro that didn't even have a vin or cowl plate once

You may end up having to get a salvage title. Try searching the net and check other states rules. I remember years ago folks claiming that the state of Louisiana would issue new titles, but, I'm not sure if true. There used to be ads in Hemmings Motor News for title work, too.

Even in the people's republic of NY, all you need to do is provide a rubbing of the VIN and fill out the paperwork. NY will take your money

NY gives you transferable registration not title. In FL you can get actual title with only a bill of sale I do it all the time runs about $300 maybe more as I'm a dealer and pay no tax.

Why don't you check with the PA BMV and see what they say?

Call one of the tag places in the state, like Best Auto Tags.

    I also live in PA.
