I am getting ready to purchase a new set of BF Goodrich TA Radials for my 71 GS. I would like to hear from others what experience they have had with clearance in the front wheel well with a factory 15x7 ralley wheel and a 255/60/15? I have understood that there could be some scrubbing if you are backing up and cutting the wheel sharp. should I go with a 245/60/15? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.:TU:

    Hi Jim,
I have Firestone Indy 500 Firehawk 255/60/15 tires on my front 15x7 Buick rally wheels and have no rubbing - then again, I don't think that I have ever backed the Buick up cutting the wheel all the way - but no problems here at all.

Thanks for the info! I think I will be OK with 255/60/15s on the front but, I didn't want to spend $225 for a pair of tires and them scrub the fender! :Do No:

IMO 245s look perfect in the front and are a great height at about 26 and half inches. I wouldn't waste time with a taller and wider tire in the front that WILL rub somewhere under certain driving conditions. The taller tire also will tend to fold under even worse on a car with poorly engineered positive camber, such as our A-bodies.

I'm running the 255/60's on 15x8 wheel vintiques steel wheels with dog dishes, think there 4 1/4 b.s., roughly lowered 2" with hotchkis springs and have never had any rub issues, I did trim a little off the bottom of the fender in front of the tire, it never hit but was a little to close for comfort, I know that's not the same wheel size you were asking about but figured i'd chime in.

My 255s used to rub when turning through gutters. I am anticipating that when I get it back on the road with new shocks and springs, I will have little to no issues.
