I noticed that when Turing all the way to the left, the tire rubs against the sway bar on my 67 skylark with stock springs, wheels and 215/75/14 tires. Also with the new 225s. Is there some adjustment on the steering box to prevent this?

Actually, my new bfg 225/70/14 tires don't rub. There's about 1/4" clearance. The old tires may have been out of round as well. Still is there any way to adjust for more clearance?

Don't stock spindles have a stop?

First thing I'd do is check it for the same gap on both sides. If it is uneven, I'd loosen up the frame brackets and nudge with a hammer to get the clearance you want.

Make sure that your pittmann arm is not off one tooth. Put the front end in the air, turn from lock to lock and see how the tires point. They should not be hitting anything, if all your stuff is stock. The midpoint of the steering wheel (centered on the number of turns) should show the tires pointing straight ahead. I had a car many years ago that had this problem, and the pittmann arm was installed one tooth off. If this is the issue, you may also have noticed a bit of road wander, since the crown on the worm gear in the steering gear is not centered.
