It's real easy to tell what year a car is when it is all together, but once they are in a bone yard and half picked away it can take a little more effort. I've needed a lot of little things for my `66 and have been back and fourth to a few salvage yards here and have come up with a few ways to tell what year car I'm looking at. `65 - quarter lips (above the wheel) are flared outward - upper control arm bushings are greasable - core support is more "primitive" a rectangular box is behind the headlights `66 & `67 - quarter lips (above the wheel) are recessed - upper control arm bushings are the pressed in type (modern) - core support is completely formed behind the head lights `67 - has the first generation safety steering shaft, two pieces with the plastic pins, all previous years used a solid one piece shaft. With these details I've cut my search time considerably, I can b-line it right to the `66's. When the yards are only open until noon on Saturday and I only get a few Saturdays off, it has begun to pay off. Dave
