tips on breathing easy 62 401

    i'd like to get the old girl breathing a bit better while still keeping it as origanal as i can. I know the single exhaust has got to go,all ideas welcomed. thanks garry:beers2:

    The simpliest thing would be a dual exhaust system. You could run some Dynomax or Magnaflow turbo style mufflers if you want to keep it quiet, or something like a Flowmaster if you want to make it loud. I'd go with no smaller than a 2 1/4in system.

    You could also add headers from Sanderson or TA Performance.

    Another good mod that nobody would ever see would be the "doc dual plane" mod. There is a sticky on that in the Nailhead section.

    Dual exhausts are a great idea, and are one of those areas where "you can have your cake and eat it" (American phrase). You will get better performance and probably slightly increased fuel economy. If your car is a driver, I would most likely leave it at that. You can get into camshafts, Tom Telesco's rockers, port matching, headers, etc., but you will spend a large pile of hard-earned dollars for a relatively small bang for the buck. A big Electra is a luxobarge with gobs of torque. You can spend thousands of dollars on engine breathing mods and it will still be a luxobarge with gobs of torque...

    i'll have my beer & drink it too, i'll see the exhaust guy next after i put the diff centre back in this weekend. i'll look in to getting the 4gc rochester rebuilt , maybe look at Doc's mod at a later date.thanks for the advice John and Andy:beers2: :beers2:
