i recently got my rochester rebuilt, and slapped it back on. but i went to turn on the car, it ran real rough. so my neighbor and i adjusted the timing and set the dwell. now it runs, but seems like its missing, we got it to run as smooth as possible and got fairly close to perfect. but when we put the air cleaner back on it seems to be choking the carb and when i accelerate it shuts of the carb. the air filter is new, and clear. any suggestions? thanks

If the timing is right the car should run, what is it set at? How are your points, good condition/old etc? Could be the carb too.. Spark plugs? got spark on all 8?

the car runs, just really bad when i accelerate and struggles while in gear, the carb is newly rebuilt couple of days ago, new plugs, points are good too. im going to replace the wires cuz i think one of them is arching. the one thins thats baffling me is that it seems the air cleaner is choking the carb of air... not sure why though..
