Recently bought a timing cover off the forum from a member. He told me when I purchased it that it was either a later model cover or one for a V6 as it had the bolt on timing mark. Mine is molded into the cover. My question, is there a difference between the water pumps from the later model 350 and V6 engines? Mine is a 71, I would have used mine but most of the holes are stripped out and few are broken inside the housing. I reused my water pump as I recently replaced but when I tighten it down it’s hitting the back of the cover and won’t let it spin.

Drill broken bolts out and install heli-coils.

Anti seize is your very good friend when your putting steel bolts into Aluminum anywhere and on anything!

I sold the OP the timing cover and am baffled here as I thought the water pumps & timing covers would interchange - My last 350 build had a NOS v6 timing cover but that was a long time ago.

In fact, I have an NOS v6 cover here now (no molded tab - IDK if the later 350 covers still used mollfed tabs ot not) & an NOS 350 cover (molded tab) & an earlier NOS water pump. I'll try them & see if there's an issue or any difference in the depth of the cavity.

Bought a boneyard 350 blue motor, 75 up maybe?, and the timing tab was molded on the cover.

The pump should fit. The impeller might not be pressed on far enough. Try a different pump.
