timing chain oilling

    Jim , I read a thread about lifter to cam lobe oiling bleeding off to much oil pressure. What I am interested in is you said you drill a .032 hole in passenger side oil galley plug to oil the timing chain. I am using ta threaded plugs . Do you recommend doing this ? I would like to try it since I am building my engine now .

    yup need more oil up front for the chain and gears.. standard practice now. Got that tip from Mike at TA..

    Alot of older bbc had these from the factory and it much easier than doing this

    Thanks Jim, I will try it out. I was going to do what Ben has shown in photos . You are correct Ben much easier to do.

    I've had the oiler on mine for over 20yrs.Excellent wear patterns on related parts.

    Just make sure the drilled plug gets installed in the front of the engine. Real head scratcher when it ends up in the back and ya prime the pump!

    Sorry I'm a little slow, but the 'squirter' in the PIC is pointed at the distributor gear. Correct?
