Hey guys, I've got another ricer wanting to race the Buick. It'sa stock 2005 Eclipse V6, which has just gone through its second transmisson , cause he doesn't understand that, the loud grinding noise you get when you rev and shift from neutral or park isn't good. ou: but heres the thing if it is a stock 3.8 i think they can run mid 14s stock. and i think the 3.0s are in the 17s... he won't go from a stop, only on the levee... and im thinking these 2.56s wind up good at 55 mph... so whatdaya think, tell him lets go? i'm just kinda curious if i could burn him by 80 mph, i'd prefer to left off by then. oh he has "drifted" this car, and put a smaller muffler on it to make it sound like a V8.
meet him in the middle somewhere. Try to start at a speed that would put you in the middle of your power band in either first or second. Isn't your car like an 11 sec car with gears. tell him you cant start so high because you will run out of gear/rpm's. Or do distance(1/4) with lengths. that may be your better option anyway. Or set him back 5-6 cars and let him go first and you wont start until he goes by you, but still 1/4 mile. O and don't forget, smoke him like a chilli dog:blast:
That eclipse couldnt hit a 15.9 second quarter mile downhill with a tailwind. Don't waste your time, I never did.
street racing isnt worth losing your car over. let him talk all he wants :Smarty: hes got an eclipse, youve got a buick. you already won:grin:
Well, he is related to one of the "richest" people in town. I'm pretty sure I could get 100 bucks out of him, if I can beat him.uzzled:
2005, complete with neons and and the little sparkly stickers you put on your mailbox, spelling his last name above the liscense plate.
well the gt model 3.0 weighs 3148 lbs... hp is 200 hp @ 5500 rpm tq is 205 ft-lbs @ 4000 rpm if its a 4banger you'll kill it
What's your setup, Chase? Stocker? If the motor is as nice as that black paint then you have nothing to worry about.
nope its a six. well. maybe i should challenge him to a burn out contest. Oh wait, its a 2.56 open rear. well.. if one of us ever runs off the road. We know who'd when that, darn full steel body cars.p
I think I might need a new avatar, what do you think, Pete? :bla: Yeah J-(Chicago) Is a cammed(292 erson, it's a baby) low comp 350-4, with a shift kit, so pretty much stock. no headers. Heres a better pic of the car for you and turbo455 (you asked for one a while back, right?)
the guy that we bought it from called it "rootbeer", the guy that repaired the bumper and matched 100% called it black cherry.
Story made me chuckle a bit when I first read it. Young, single apprentice worked for me for a while last Fall. He has a brand new '08 GT V6 Eclipse. Only one in the province, so he said. Paid $42K on the road!! Talk, talk, talk........fast.........mean........etc. We all kept quiet & just smiled & nodded. Couple guys were getting pretty tired of it. I let him know I had an old Buick he might like to see. "It has a carb.?? What's that?" Close to last day of our little project & in rolls a ramp truck owned by a local rental company. Driver comes in looking for some equipment, I told him where it was & it's ready to go. Asked the driver to help us out in a little scheme we had brewing. Understand this driver is about 6'-6", 250 lbs. easy & would make a Pug Terrier look beautiful!. Truck is sitting in the parking lot directly behind the Mitsu. Just then the car owner comes around the corner about 50 yds. away. "Hey Mike...this driver wants to talk to you". "Me" he says, pointing to himself & walking a bit closer. "What's up?" " Well, he's driving the ramp truck & wants to talk to you about your car". Mike gets a real worried look on his face. " When was the last time you made a payment on this thing anyway?" He looks back & forth between me,the truck driver & the truck. He turned white as a sheet & I thought he was about to drop right there on the spot! "What do you mean........what's going on???? Truck driver couldn't bear it & burst out laughing. He pretty near dropped laughing so hard on poor Mike's face. Mike took to a good laugh too once he saw the jig was up. We didn't hear too much about the car next couple days.
Find a 1/4 mile track and race the guy. Who cares who wins, but I am leaning towards you. :TU: Might be wise to go through the traps in 2nd gear. Wish I had more people to challenge me, no young guys have fast cars around hereo No: I am ready to get to the track in March and slash my time, with my new Q-jet, TA 212 cam and tiny MT sticky tires.
